Island Conquer
Today in math students played Island Conquer to practice math skills related to geometry, number sense and measurement. This fun game is available free on-line. Print your own copy and challenge your child to a game at home.
Reflecting on Math Homework
Each week students have an open-ended math homework question to complete. On Thursdays or Fridays students share their strategies and solutions with a partner. The conversations that I hear always make me smile. Students are genuinely interested in their peers’ work and are increasingly using math vocabulary to ask questions and share their own thinking. After the partner sharing we look at some answers as a class and further discuss best strategies and ways to communicate our thinking.
Happy Halloween
Oreo Challenge 2014
The Oreo Challenge is tied to our math unit on Data Management. This activity provided data that will be used as we explore creating and reading graphs next week. It was also a great opportunity to practice team work skills.
